Cannot we agree that it is the people, at minimum the majority, which the entire economy of any nation is all about?
Feudalism:
Any system that resembles the one used in the middle ages, where the people provided labor and military service to a lord in return for the use of his land. A form of contractual servitude.
Just a moment of mirth here but this sentiment is honestly what I believe: "Feudalism is futile".
When we vote to lower taxes to stimulate the economy the only reason to do that would be to get money flowing back in the economy. It only works when that extra money in the pockets of people is spent. Those who profited a million dollars each of the last two years on the backs of those who lost their jobs and homes did not earn that money nor did they put it right back in the economy to stimulate jobs.
Our nation does not tax billionaires on what they already have but only on their net income over the last year. The rate is not over 36% on the wealthiest of incomes when even counting capital gains and each one makes more money if their gross income increased, no matter what, so they are motivated to reinvest their money to make more. If they lose the next year on their investments that loss comes off the top of their gross income to decrease the net income that they are being taxed from. Each of the top 2% of net income “earners” could take their net worth and survive without earning another penny for the rest of their life, unless they have not invested in medical insurance.
Most of the 95% of wage earners of our nation most likely do not have the resources to retire for the rest of their life. They have to go to work to survive. They have to provide some physical or mental labor to earn enough to eat, be clothed, rest and have some sort of re-creation to be able to continue to work. They are the very ones in our nation who have the overwhelming power of the vote to make certain they have a job to work and earn at and they choose to shoot themselves in the foot by lowering the taxes of the very wealthy.
Individual survival incomes have to be sufficient to withstand being taxed by food costs, education costs, medical costs, clothing costs, transportation costs and re-creation costs. This is a given for without being able to pay for those items, and more not listed, the individual’s energy and value decreases until they are worth nothing in their labors for they cannot labor. Few realize that it was the investment made by their wage earning parents that built them up to be able to earn a wage themselves. I dare any infant to go out and earn their living, by producing a viable product or service, please, for if they can it takes a lot of the burden off of their family (less taxation of the energies and resources of the parents). If an adults resources physically, mentally, socially and spiritually are over taxed then they become less and less capable of being productive to our nation and the economy suffers. This entire paragraph did not even speak to government imposed taxes just to the natural tax imposed on each of us to earn the privilege of survival.
Government imposed taxes should be no different in the results as taxes imposed by the grocer, doctor or automobile dealer (just to name a few necessary resources to our standard of living). Any tax, to be worth its salt, has to build up resource potential of the entire body it is taxing or it is a burden and constantly is decreasing the trade value, in product and service, of that body until it has no worth. Our national and state taxes provide highways to enhance our mobility to produce, oversight to create less chance of dying from tainted eggs I had no time to produce myself, oversight to create less chance of destroying our stare and national resource for the use of future generations of citizens, services such as police, fire and military that can only be supported in that way, oversight so that self centered greedy don’t ignorantly destroy the productive resources shared by the people, oversight so that utilities serve all the people and not just a select few who could afford their own, and so many more investments through management that any parent must do for their family to survive to get stronger.
If we continue to subscribe to the false premise that free enterprise and independence from any government will improve the life of all we will survive as Man under a feudalistic state. We can’t provide for ourselves as individuals as well as we can as a community and it gets better as a nation (the call to being patriotic) and it becomes best when we eventually, if the majority try, get to enjoy the resources provided coordinated and governed as one body of Man. We won’t get there if we insist on not taxing those who otherwise will become our lords (especially through their self interest lobbies and misrepresented media campaigns). Not to worry, all is not lost, they will benevolently allow us to pay them for the privilege of being allowed to use their land.
In conclusion, think for a moment how each of our bodies work to produce and defend. We don’t tax any one part exactly the same as another in every circumstance. When mobile, without other vehicles, we tax our legs and feet much more than any other part of us. When producing through work we tax our opposing thumbs, arms shoulders and back much more than any other part of our body. When resting we tax our gluteus maximus the most. In all waking processes necessary to survival we tax our brain, heart and nervous system entirely different to support that part of the body actually producing (our governmental system). Isn’t it time to begin to support the entire body of Man rather than to continue to be a taxing independent burden to the body of Man? My entire body benefits when each and every component is coordinated to work as one for the survival of my body. My body suffers every time just one cell of my body fights for independence and destroys the productive cells, we call this cancer.
