The Earth is in a cycle of warming and this has been from the clear evidence of many years of recording temperatures throughout the entire planet (NOAA does the most for us in maintaining records of ocean temperatures). You are right that too many only choose what they want to hear but reject what does not suit their objectives. It does not matter to them that the best instruments and the most highly trained experts insist that the Earth is rapidly changing to become unsuitable to sustain most of human life unless something is begun to study, change and implement innovations that we don’t have available to us today.
The saddest attitude I have witnessed more and more over the past three years is that seen in Sara Palin, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. Those three individuals have influenced the uneducated and illiterate in the science of global weather to really believe that the majority of expert scientists are all part of an elitist conspiracy. I am not an expert in much at all and definitely not in weather but I would trust the weather educated majority for my, and all my descendant’s, life over the three most vocal leaders of the Tea/Republican Party.
All three of those Far Right leaders have in common their obvious distain for education and their spreading of intimidating fear of multiple conspiracies from any who disagree with their logic, or stand in the way of what they wish to achieve for themselves.
Sorry if I have stepped on anyone’s comfort zone but these are my sincere beliefs. I would gladly change what I believe, and do, when I am shown how to test that my present beliefs are flawed. I need all the input I can get from all those gracious enough to share so that I can grow closer and closer to the truth. It is my choice to make my decisions and wield my influence based on tested truth and not what I wish were true.
